They took $5000.00 from me and I got nothing in return. The first discounted hotel room I booked with the was a roach motel. When I contacted them, all they could say was sorry, so I have not used them anymore. $5000.00 down the drain!

We were scammed last September. Check our our website at http://destinations-travel-is-it-a-scam.homestead.com/ and contact us at DestinationsTravelScam@***.com.

We are demanding that the charges to 2 credit cards issued to my sister be rescinded and we are filing complaints everywhere: the Better Business Bureau, the local Chambers of Commerce, the TN Attorney General, and at this and other online sites.

We are looking for others who will make enough noise to help stop these people.

Visit www.timesharetricks.blogspot.com you can force them into letting you out and refunding your money,

We just got scammed for$6000 with smg destinations. By the time they give you an account and see it is worthless, its too late to back out.

So now I have 60000 dollars on a credit card they just sent me. I'm going too refuse to pay it.

I feel as if I was scammed into buying it with false information. You can get the sane deals on the internet without paying 6000 dollars

Smoky Mountain Getaways Membership Review

My parent were scammed out of $5000 for a membership that is no better than Priceline which is free to access. They said they would buy my parents timeshare, since then they made my parents pay the maintenance fee telling them this was the last time they would have to, now they're giving them the run around because they really don't want the timeshare.

Be aware that SMG is only a reseller of RSI services. They will do little more than accept your money. RSI is the back end for countless head companies like SMG who resell their vacation and booking services. SMG has recently changed their policy to allow you 3 days to back out of the contract. This is three calendar days so if you go in on a Thursday or Friday, Be aware that your time is very limited and the also say that it takes 3 days to create your account. Those days are counted as well. Personal experience is that if you do just a minimal amount of looking around on the internet, you can find comparable deals. If you are looking to dump your time share, SMG will point you to another company and possibly offer you an additional discount on your membership but you better read the fine print. That other company is going to charge you as well for transfer and processing fees. If SMG is a good fit for you for whatever reason, they will eventually give you an offer in the neighborhood of $1500-$2000 so just keep saying "no". They will come at you from all angles. Also, don't believe any of the hype about being able to get purchase points or whatever they call them. The stuff that sell is either junk or never available. In the end, those points are pretty much worthless. My final thoughts would be to take their watch their "Up" presentation, say no, get your free gift and get out and hold hands while you do it.

Your description is right on the money. They tried to scamm us in 2012 we reported to the BBB and the Consumer Protection agency in Tennessee.

SMG had been on their watch list for some time. I did some research into the current code and was able to in fact prove that they had to honor the 3 day cancellation period which they had previously tried to get us to sign away on our contract. I think they got a lot of legal pressure after that and did change their policy. Sounds like they are still using the same "Up" presentation.

We eventually got a full refund but it took some doing and of course they tried to make it sound like they were doing us a favor.

I just wish this whole industry would get locked down.

Simply call your credit card co. and dispute the charges under fraud and misrepresented claims....no statute on time. Also notify attorney General in that state as well as dept of consumer affairs! This company changed their name to Destinations after being unable to raise an F rating under the name Smoky Mountain Getaways

yes me too

I just contacted the pidgeon forge police department about the scam these people pulled on us. Maybe they can at least shut them down so no more tourist can be taken for these large amounts of money.

Guest

We were taken for 4000.00. We have called them and written them and they never respond.

We just get the run around.

It's a scam and we don't know who to go to in order to get our money back. If anyone can help us it would be greatly appreciated.

If you paid with a credit card you can dispute the charge, although some card companies will tell you they investigated but only send you the response from the business. I disputed a charge with Chase only to have them send me the response of the Mexican dentist, Joaquin Berron, who claimed he took a x-ray and everything was o.k.

but he just relabeled a x-ray I had 4 months before as a recent one at the time.

But try everything and post everywhere so at least other people will be forewarned.

Consumers need even more web sites such as pissed consumers to drive crooks out of business or to keep people from buying from them. Keep plugging!

Smokey Mountain Getaways is a Total Ripoff!

Updated by user Jul 27, 2015

Yes, the TN Consumer Affairs Dept did nothing. They said they had to get a lot of complaints first.

How many is a lot? When I talked with them they were at 16!

Original review Jun 23, 2014
We vacationed in Pigeon Forge last fall and fell for their scam. Long story but I know anyone who has been tricked by them has one too. They basically sell you rights to a travel and shopping website that is totally useless. They say in their presentation that there are over 300,000 resorts but when you actually get on the site (you can't access it until your 3 day right of rescission is over) there might be 100 and those are very limited and don't give all the cost info. In addition, the points don't get you any deals because you have to spend a lot of money to save any. That is what got us was the points. I thought, 7500 points? That would pay for the membership itself. Well, they knew how to get me there! I don't know how to file a class action suit but I know an attorney who needs any information about this and would like to hear from us. I already sent in an affidavit. Contact me and I will send him your info. Thanks!

We also were scammed and still paying for it every month We have lost 7500.00 so far and on our way to 10,000.00. We tried using 3 times and found cheaper prices elsewhere.

How can we get out?

How do I get in touch with the others that have been scammed and gotten lawyers?

We too were scammed by this terrible company! So upsetting the false info they gave in their presentation such as a "website" showing they had A+ BBB rating... They were obviously on a fake website

Is SMG Destinations really a scam? Please reply.

We signed papers there yesterday then came back to our condo & began to read these negative reviews! We own 2 different timeshares & they said they would help us get out of the maintenance fees etc.

I need to know whether to get out of this while we can! Thanks for any info!

Any one who knows how we can start a class actio suit against these crooks please contact me at skeith121956@***.com. We were scammed in june of 2014.

We just bought into it this past Saturday. I should have checked BBB before but I didn't.

I checked BBB website Wednesday and Smokey Mountain Getaways had a D+. When they guy was presenting to us, I kept thinking and finally told my husband "this sounds to good to be true" but he talked me into it. We were all about the "no cleaning fees". So, we relinquished out 2 OTHER timeshare for this ONE!

I'm so discusted now that I have done my research.

Our agreement said that we had 3 business days to get out of the contract, well they were closed those 3 days:/ so now were stuck! Never again will I buy anything before I do research

Make sure your timeshare is actually transferred. They are also running a scam with the timeshare transfers.

I would contact your timeshare company direct and check the status. They are placing them in names of people that don't even know they own them, then when they default it is too late and SMG already has their money
